Today is Bulimia Awareness Day

Recovery is Possible – Help Spread the Word!

Welcome!  Today is Bulimia Awareness Day on my bulimia recovery blog and around the web. I’m celebrating this day in collaboration with a community of self-love and women’s empowerment bloggers.  We want to get the word out to women struggling with this eating disorder and the people who love them that help is available.

Help for you or a loved one

In case this is your first visit to my bulimia recovery blog allow me to share a little about myself.

My name is Polly Mertens I had bulimia for 20 years and I know what it’s like to have your mind controlled by obsessive thoughts of food, weight, and the constant striving to prove myself and please others. Not to mention the guilt and shame I lived with for two decades that made my life a mess and left me miserable.

In 2005 I finally found the keys to lasting recovery and connected with my inner, higher self where real joy comes from.  Since then I’ve been thriving!  I’ve learned a lot in the past 7 years and I’m passionate about giving back to women with eating disorders.

My intentions are simple.  I want all women to…

Love and be loved

Know their true beauty

Have loving, caring, supportive relationships

Enjoy the life they were meant to live

Live passionate, joyous and happy lives inspired from within

Connect with and operate from their highest Self

Learn to love themselves unconditionally

If you don’t have bulimia, but think you know someone who may, I’d like to help you feel empowered to show your love and support.  The more you understand this eating disorder the more you can do to help them.

Ready to learn some new things and have some fun? Great!
