Are you being run by that crazy voice in your head? You know the one.…
Today’s Theme: Find Pleasure in Anything
I’m enjoying continuing my daily routine of setting an intention, or theme for my day as part of my 10 day ZenHabits challenge. This is totally something I came up with on my own and it’s been a lot of fun to do.
Today’s theme is:
Find Pleasure in Anything
Like I’ve experienced in earlier days/posts, my mind quickly modified today’s theme into something else. Right away I made up “find pleasure in everything“. And you know what, that sounded like even more fun so that’s how I went about my day.
What I’ve noticed after many days of this sort of zen-living is that I feel like I’m in a tornado of joy or upleveling. Each day I feel like I wake up in a better place than when I went to bed the night before. Then, during the day I catch myself like I’m about to burst from happiness.
I sent an instant message to a colleague today that went something like “I’m so happy today I could burst“.
Seriously?!
And it’s just a plain ‘ol Wednesday.
There wasn’t anything spectacular to speak of on my schedule. No great news I’d received yet that I’ve won the lottery. No one calling to invite me to do something dazzling or adventuresome.
I was just walking through my day looking for things to take pleasure in. You might say I had in the back of my mind “how can I enjoy this…more?” or “what’s great about this?” Whatever it was I was focusing on I would just look for a way to enjoy it – or find pleasure in it.
My food tasted better and it was the same food as I’d had the night before (leftovers). But somehow looking for a reason to find pleasure it in made me focus in a way on the textures, the flavors, the smells – all of it in a way I would usually ignore. I’m usually doing something else while I’m eating so food is just sort of there and it goes down. Today…different story.
Even as I write this right now I’m smiling. I’m just happy. I’m taking pleasure in writing for you. It’s quite amazing how having an intention running in the background, or subconscious mind, can trigger the conscious mind to find those very things.
I think after this 10 day challenge is over I’m going to try on some financial intentions. You get what you focus on, so why not focus on some financially rewarding things, eh?
Will you try today’s intention on for a day or a week? Will you look for pleasure in anything, too?
I hope you will. Please share your feedback in the comments below. If you would like to create a stretch goal and share it with us, please do in the comments and come back and tell us how you did.
To your highest good,
Polly
p.s. tomorrow’s theme is “single-task”…hmmm. Definitely outside of my usual comfort zone.
