Shift Your Mindset

The key to Changing Your Life Lies Within You

shift your mindset

Bulimia is not really about food at all.

Instead, food is a means of coping with life.

If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got.

In order for things to change, first I must change.

Many of the people I coach are often amazed how quickly they start to see a change in their lives.

One of the first things we address in the coaching process is self-awareness. Without clarity of thought, words and actions you’re not in control of your life.

Shifting your mindset, language and actions will start to take your life in a whole new direction. Here are some of the things you can start doing today to help you be more aware of how bulimia is running the show.

  • Notice Your Self Talk – listen carefully for the thoughts you think and especially the words you say to and about yourself in your mind. Talk like “I’m so bad”, “I’m fat and no one will ever lover me”, or “I can’t believe I did that again, I’m such a weak person”. Thoughts and negative self-talk like this is a disease that eats away at your soul. It will erode your confidence and self-esteem; self-love and worthiness are not possible if you let yourself think and accept these thoughts.
  • Choose Your Focus – when you focus on things that aren’t working in your life, they will bring you down and ultimately attract more of that into your life.  Choose instead to focus on the good, the positive, the bright parts of your life.  It may be your loving family or friends, a great job, a church you enjoy going to, or merely having a home and food on the table each night. The two operative words here are choose and focus.  You can control your focus if you practice at it each day.
  • Live in Appreciation – remember to count your blessings.  You’ve probably heard of gratitude journals (journaling 5 things each day that you’re grateful for).  I say take it a step further and practice appreciating anything and everything you can find to love.  It could be a beautiful sunset, a kind word from a stranger, or just the fact that you’re alive and can take a deep breath.   Appreciation is a similar vibration to love and when you’re appreciating and feeling the love inside for whatever you put your attention on, and milk that feeling for all you can, you’ll attract more to love into your life.
